Resizing Photos Resizing photos is something most of us do at some stage - either to display on websites, or even to email to friends & family. (There is nothing worse than receiving a 10Mb photo through your email - especially if you're still on dial-up!)

On the "Format - Borders & Shading" dialog box, there is a "Page Border" tab. Towards the bottom there is an drop-down called "Art" which has lots of artistic borders you can add to your page. Everything from Xmas themes, to Art Nouveau, to Certificates. Spend a few minutes having a browse through them - and keep them in mind next time you have to prepare a flyer or invitation. |
The
most important thing to remember is to ALWAYS keep the original
photo intact. Most photos are saved as JPG format which is what's
known as a "lossy" compression algorithm. Basically what
that means is everytime you save a JPG you lose a bit of quality
- so if you resize a photo and then save it, you have lost some
of the original quality. It may not be noticeable the first time,
but do that a couple of times and you will start to notice. If you
want to go back to the original size, you will have lost quality
and it will be grainy. So always keep the original safe and work
on a copy of your photo.
